Musician Patience Namadingo on Friday night delivered his final mash-up featuring ‘Soldier’ Lucius Banda.

The 15 minutes and 28 seconds long track featured songs from various albums done by Lucius Banda.

The two artists beautifully supported each other, taking turns to lead on the songs that made up the mash-up.

However, shortly after the release of the mash-up, Namadingo and his manager Peter Mazunda released a video breaking the news that this was the end of the reggae mash-ups project from the artist.

the reggae mash-up project

“This is the end. We thank you for the support throughout the project,” said Mazunda before handing over to Namadingo for further explanation.

Namadingo said that the mash-ups, which have featured Joe Kellz, Billy Kaunda, Black Missionaries and Lucius Banda, were supposed to go on and feature more artists.

“We were hoping to feature Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Mlaka Maliro and Giddes Chalamanda,” he said.

Namadingo said it was going to be an exciting time, but him and his Namartist management team have come to a painful decision to end the project.

He highlighted funds and time to produce the mash-ups as some of the challenges that they faced.

“I would, however, like to encourage other artists in Malawi to take up the challenge and produce their own mash-ups and it will be beautiful to see another artist produce their own mash-up,” said Namadingo.

On his final offering, Namadingo said it was sponsored by FDH Bank, where he is the brand ambassador.

The mash-up had songs such as Farao, Kuyenda Ngati Ngumbi, Tina, Kuyenda Ngati Nkhunda, Zakukhosi Kwanga, Wandidolola, Mundikumbuke and Wanga Kheliwe, among others.

The video for the mash-up, which is the second one by Namadingo and Banda, was shot on the beautiful tea fields in Mulanje.

The reggae mash-up project was produced by revered producer Moshu, real name Moses Shumba.
